About

A faculty member at Southwest University of Visual Arts, Camden Hardy explores the ways in which human beings interact with, and understand, their surroundings. On his work, Mr. Hardy states; "The Wayfinder’s Dilemma is a meditation on how we apply meaning to our experiences as we attempt to orient ourselves in unfamiliar situations. Each image in this body of work presents a new waypoint - a new experience - we must reconcile with those we’ve had before. These photographs are captured at the fringes of human civilization - places that appear uninhabited, yet show subtle evidence of human presence. The alien, yet oddly familiar landscape serves as a metaphor for our perpetual quest to place ourselves within the universe. Together, these seemingly random moments create a narrative in which the ambiguity of “what is” becomes a springboard to consider “what could be”, calling into question the ways we construct our individual realities and interpret the world around us."
