Semi-Annual Mata Ortiz Sale

Mark your calendars for the Museum's Annual Mata Ortiz Pottery Show! This is a free event in the main entrance located at the southwest corner of Sabino Canyon and Tanque Verde Roads. Stop in and see master potter Oralia Lopez demonstrating her craft throughout the day!

Mata Ortiz is located the Mexican state of Chihuahua about 4.5 hours south and west of El Paso, Texas, United States. It is a small town with adobe dwellings at the foothills of the Sierra Madre Occidental, along the banks of the Palanganas River. Characterized by intricate and elegant abstract and zoomorphic designs, the artisanship of Mata Ortiz designs is a testimony of the perseverance of an entire town.
